Tenerife, December 2023

This was such an easy trip: single-centred, been there before, guaranteed sunshine! We visited some old haunts and explored some new ones, and essentially cleared up. The two endemic pigeons (Bolle's and Laurel Pigeons) were easier to see this time, with better gen, and the Tenerife Blue Chaffinch put on a good display as usual. Plain Swift, Canary Islands Chiffchaff, African Blue Tit, superbus Robin and various other island endemic forms added to the fun, and we enjoyed grappling with some plants, butterflies and other creatures too.

Arguably the highlight was a boat trip in the waters off Los Cristianos, where we connected with Loggerhead Turtle, and better still, large and friendly pods of Short-finned Pilot Whales!
