Peru, July-August 2003

This three-week mega-trip to fabulous Peru with our friends Chris and Jacky had it all: oceanic birding, the Atacama Desert, the high Andes, the mega-diverse east slope, and lowland Amazonia. No wonder we saw 533 bird species! It's almost absurd to try and list the highlights: Andean Condor, Inca Tern, Andean Cock-of-the-rock, White-bellied Cinclodes (one of the rarest birds on Earth), Sword-billed Hummingbird, albatrosses, penguins, Hoatzin....it was crazy! And of course we also got to visit not only Machu Picchu, but also many other stunning Inca-era sites around Cusco. What a trip!

You REALLY have to read the BLOW-BY-BLOW REPORT to get the full picture!
